Title: E4tech (2012) BVCM cost source Content: The Biomass Value Chain Modelling (BVCM) project, led by E4tech h1 How do you find this source? Final model results not yet publically available. Contact E4tech or the Energy Technologies Institute for the underlying publically-available references used in deriving these costs. * http://www.eti.co.uk/news/article/biomass_systems_value_chain_modelling * http://www.e4tech.com/PDF/E4tech%20to%20help%20evaluate%20the%20future%20of%20UK%20biomass.pdf h1 What is the general approach that this source takes to estimating costs? Database of all bioenergy technologies, based on taking mid-point values from a wide data set of collected sources and partner references. Each technology is modelled with suitable feedstocks, inputs, outputs, scale, capex, opex, lifetime, availability, turndown, build rates, feedstock constraints. This database, carried out in Work Package 3, is one of the main modelling inputs, alongside bioenergy yield maps and infrastructure costs, that goes into determining cost, CO2 and energy optimal approaches to deploying bioenergy across the UK (spatially and over time to 2050) h1 What are the limitations of this source? Only 3 representative scales modelled for each technology, and for most of the biofuels conversion technologies, only one unique scale modelled, due to lack of reference data Category: Cost sources User: Richard Taylor Signed off by: Signed off at: Label: E4tech (2012) BVCM |
