Title: History of published versions of the 2050 Calculator Content: This page sets out a history of the various versions of the 2050 Calculator we have published and the main differences between them. h1 Version 3 The third published version of the 2050 Calculator produced in December 2011, incorporating costs and air quality information. We published the spreadsheet, web tool and accompanying reports. This version of the Calculator gave the user 42 choices about how to design their pathway and presented new costs and air quality analysis. h2 Version 3.6 h3 Version 3.6.1 * Fixed BUG 32 BIOENERGY IMPORTS INCORRECTLY CALCULATED h2 Version 3.5 h3 Version 3.5.8 * Tom Counsell is working on this version. Altered the primary energy table to split domestic and imports. Download at https://github.com/decc/twenty-fifty/raw/79cda2c6c7aa805f8faab4ebc7bbddbab471de3b/model/model.xlsx h3 Version 3.5.7 * Tom Counsell is working on this version, added Sustainable Energy Association pathways and Association for Conservation of Energy Pathways Download at https://github.com/decc/twenty-fifty/raw/4bbbee3cb5501a011b01744ade185f805879162c/model/model.xlsx h3 Version 3.5.6 * Tom Counsell is working on version 3.5.6 to simplify the link between the Excel and the web front end * FIxed a bug that had crept into the heating sheet, probably 3.5.3 h3 Version 3.5.5 * Corrected formulae to Calculate low cost estimate in sector XVIII.a F65:O66. Previously used 2007 costs through the period to 2050 due to a rogue '$' in the formula (Bug 29) This version is under development. To download, see Excel 3.5.5 h3 Version 3.5.4 * Edited trajectories for converting coal power station to biomass, so that conversion rate is now 0 fromn 2035 onwards, from which it is assumed there are no longer any coal plants. The previous trajectories were causing negative capacity (Bug 20) * Removed remaining links to the old wiki host site (Bug 24) * Added detail to level 1 descriptions for wave and tidal for the story view (Bug 23) This version is under development. To download, see Excel 3.5.4 h3 Version 3.5.3 * Fixed labelling in cell D101 of year sheets; changed from 'requested hydrocarbons' to 'Total supply / (demand) to this point' (Bug 6) * Fixed labelling in worksheet 1.a cell C245; changed from 'coal' to 'solid hydrocarbons' (Bug 19) * Deleted some extraneous cell contents that had crept into some of the sector sheets. This reduced the file size by ~0.5MB. This version is under development. To download, see Excel 3.5.3 h3 Version 3.5.2 * Rename Fuel cells or batteries to Choice of zero-emission technology at David Mackay's request * Fix yellow bubble descriptions for offshore wind and CCS * Added named references for the model inputs and some of the outputs (still to do electricity and greenhouse gas emissions) * Put filenames of one page notes in Excel rather than web front end * Consolidate the air quality outputs onto a single worksheet * Separate the energy security outputs onto a new worksheet * Put more of the calculations used in web interface graphs in the Excel (e.g., cost summary) This version is under development. To download, see Excel 3.5.2 h3 Version 3.5.1 * The battery / fuel cell choice is now reported as ABCD rather than 1234 This version is work in progress. To download, see Excel 3.5.1 h3 Version 3.5.0 * Fix a bug in sheet XV.b the cells F16:018, F24:O26 and F32:O34 need a 'unit.twh'. This means the calculation of domestic Oil, Gas and Coal production is wrong if the user has chosen anything other than TWh as their preffered unit. * Alter the costs and numbers of bicycles which currently look implausible. See Bicycle methodology for detail. This version is work in progress. To download, see Excel 3.5.0 h2 Version 3.4 h3 Version 3.4.8 * This version tweaked the labels on some of the intermediate output tables and fixed industry size on the maximum demand pathway. To download, see Excel 3.4.8 h3 Version 3.4.7 * This version is skipped in the Excel numbering scheme in order to keep the Excel version number in sync with the version packaged in the gem file. h3 Version 3.4.6 To download, see Excel 3.4.6 * Changed 'ammortised' to 'amortised' (Bug 18) h3 Version 3.4.5 To download, see Excel 3.4.5 * Added descriptions of example pathways * Added 'NO' as possible option for the position the example pathways appear in the cost comparison * Changed the costs x-check rows to round to the nearest integer before performing cross check * Tweaked the descriptions of the different heating choices h3 Version 3.4.4 To download, see Excel 3.4.4 * Added sufficient information to the excel spreadsheet so example pathways can be read off the spreadsheet by the web front end. * Added the heating table from the web front end story tab to the intermediate output worksheet. h3 Version 3.4.3 To download, see Excel 3.4.3 * Removed the redundant Sankey code from the intermediate output worksheet. * Fixed bug in flows tab: the gas used for peaking generation was not included in the flow from gas to thermal generation. h3 Version 3.4.2 What changed Greg? h3 Version 3.4.1 For publication in December 2012. It contains updated costs, a new 'low cost' pathway and includes historic data for the first time. The air quality figures have been updated in some areas, with the remaining updates to follow in a subsequent publication. h2 Version 3.1.0 Published in May 2012. It corrects an error in the mapping between the spreadsheet and web tool and includes a small correction to the representation of the "analogous to MARKAL" pathway. h2 Version 3.0.0 The third published version of the 2050 Calculator produced in December 2011, incorporating costs and air quality information. We published the spreadsheet, web tool and accompanying reports. This version of the Calculator gave the user 42 choices about how to design their pathway and presented new costs and air quality analysis. h1 Version 2.0.0 The second published version of the 2050 Calculator produced in March 2011, responding to the responses from the Call for Evidence. We published the spreadsheet, web tool and accompanying reports. This version of the Calculator gave the user 40 choices about how to design their pathway. It was also the first time we published landscape and energy flow diagrams as an output from the web tool. h1 Version 1.0.0 The first published version of the 2050 Calculator published in July 2010. We published the spreadsheet, web tool and accompanying reports as a Call for Evidence. This version of the Calculator gave the user 38 choices for how to design their pathway to 2050. h1 Explanation of version numbers: Version numbers have three components: X.Y.Z (e.g., 2.1.1) X gets increased each time we add a feature (e.g., costs, water quality) Y gets increased every time we cause the answer to change (e.g., we change a cost assumption) Z gets increased every time we make any other change (e.g., we add a new example pathway, we change a wording, we add sources). There was a longer changelog here: Changes to the 2050 pathway costs model but it has now been superseded. User: Tom Counsell Picture updated at: Signed off by: Signed off at: |
