Title: History of published versions of the 2050 Calculator

Content: This page sets out a history of the various versions of the 2050 Calculator we have published and the main differences between them.

h1 Version 3.3.2

This is the version for publication in Sept 2012 (D12/1119096). It contains updated costs and includes historic data for the first time.

h1 Version 3.1.0

Published in May 2012. It corrects an error in the mapping between the spreadsheet and web tool and includes a small correction to the representation of the "analogous to MARKAL" pathway.

h1 Version 3.0.0

The third published version of the 2050 Calculator produced in December 2011, incorporating costs and air quality information. We published the spreadsheet, web tool and accompanying reports. This version of the Calculator gave the user 42 choices about how to design their pathway and presented new costs and air quality analysis.

h1 Version 2.0.0

The second published version of the 2050 Calculator produced in March 2011, responding to the responses from the Call for Evidence. We published the spreadsheet, web tool and accompanying reports. This version of the Calculator gave the user 40 choices about how to design their pathway. It was also the first time we published landscape and energy flow diagrams as an output from the web tool.

h1 Version 1.0.0

The first published version of the 2050 Calculator published in July 2010. We published the spreadsheet, web tool and accompanying reports as a Call for Evidence. This version of the Calculator gave the user 38 choices for how to design their pathway to 2050.

h1 Explanation of version numbers:

Version numbers have three components: X.Y.Z (e.g., 2.1.1)

X gets increased each time we add a feature (e.g., costs, water quality)

Y gets increased every time we cause the answer to change (e.g., we change a cost assumption)

Z gets increased every time we make any other change (e.g., we add a new example pathway, we change a wording, we add sources).
